Refresh the site icon
Browsers hold on to a website icon for a long time. If you are still seeing our previous icon, these steps show the current one straight away.
BusinessValuation.co.uk now uses a new icon: a black rounded square with white “BV” lettering and a gold bar. Browsers store icons separately from the rest of a page so they do not have to fetch them again, which means the previous icon can keep appearing in your browser tab, your bookmarks or a home-screen shortcut for days or weeks after an update. Nothing is wrong with the site and nothing you have saved is affected.
The quickest try
Close every BusinessValuation.co.uk tab, shut the browser down completely and open it again. On a phone, swipe the browser away from the app switcher so it closes rather than staying open in the background. Visit the site again and the new icon usually appears immediately.
Refresh on a computer
Chrome, Edge or Firefox on Windows, or Chrome on a Mac
- Open any page on this site.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + R (Cmd + Shift + R on a Mac). This reloads the page and asks for a fresh copy of the stored files.
- If the icon is still the old one, clear only the stored files: in Chrome or Edge open the menu, then Settings, then Privacy and security, then Clear browsing data. Set the time range to “All time”, tick “Cached images and files”, untick everything else, and clear the data. In Firefox, open Settings, then Privacy and Security, then “Cookies and Site Data”, then “Clear Data” and tick “Cached Web Content”.
- Close and reopen the browser, then visit the site again.
Safari on a Mac
- Open any page on this site.
- Hold Shift and click the Reload button, or press Cmd + Option + R.
- If the icon is still the old one, open Safari, then Settings, then Privacy, click “Manage Website Data”, search for businessvaluation.co.uk, select it and click Remove. Reopen the site.
Refresh on a phone or tablet
Chrome on Android
- Open the site, then tap the three-dot menu at the top right.
- Tap History, then “Clear browsing data”, tick “Cached images and files” and tap “Clear data”. Bookmarks and saved passwords are not touched.
- Reopen the site.
Safari on iPhone or iPad
- Close all Safari tabs, then reopen Safari and visit the site.
- If the icon is still the old one, open the Settings app, tap Safari, then “Clear History and Website Data”. This does clear other browsing history on that device, so if you would rather not, simply wait a day or two and the icon will update by itself.
If you added us to your home screen
A home-screen icon is a separate saved copy and does not refresh on its own. Remove it and add the site again:
- iPhone or iPad: press and hold the icon, tap Remove Bookmark, then Delete Home Screen. Open BusinessValuation.co.uk in Safari, tap the Share button, then “Add to Home Screen”.
- Android: press and hold the icon, then tap Remove. Open the site in Chrome, open the menu and tap “Add to Home screen”.
Still showing the old icon?
The icon will update on its own once the copy your browser has stored reaches the end of its life, usually within a few days. This changes nothing about how the site works: calculators, reports and enquiries all behave the same either way.
